Branding Costs in Europe: Logo to Full Identity

// 7 MIN READ

Search for logo design in Europe and you'll see prices from €300 to €25,000 — and where you commission it matters as much as what you buy. Western and Central/Eastern Europe price branding very differently. Here's how to read the ranges, plus the VAT that shapes the total.

// THE 30-SECOND VERSION
  • A logo is one asset; a brand identity is a whole system.
  • Freelancer logos: roughly €300–2,500.
  • Full brand identity: roughly €4,000–25,000+.
  • Country and VAT both move the real number.

1. A Logo Is Not a Brand

A logo is a single graphic. A brand identity is the full system — logo variations, colours, typography, imagery and the rules that keep it consistent. As across all of Europe's design work, the price gap comes down to whether you're buying one mark or an entire identity with strategy behind it.

THE DIFFERENCE"A €400 logo gives you a file. A €12,000 identity gives you a system and the thinking behind it. Both get called 'branding' — they're not the same purchase."

2. The Honest Euro Ranges

Marketplace / FreelancerLOGO ONLY

€300–1,200. Often template-based. Lower in Central/Eastern Europe; quick and cheap.

Experienced DesignerLOGO+

€1,200–4,000. A custom logo with brand basics like colours and fonts.

Agency — Full IdentitySYSTEM

€4,000–25,000. Strategy, a full visual system, and a brand guide.

Established Brand StudioENTERPRISE

€25,000+. Mostly Western Europe. Research, naming and full rollout.

3. Country and VAT

Two European specifics. Where you commission matters: Western European studios sit at the top of these ranges, while Central and Eastern Europe offers strong design talent for less. And VAT varies by country — roughly 17% to 27% — so the same net fee becomes a different gross total depending on the agency's location. Confirm both before comparing.

⚠ CHECK BEFORE YOU COMPARE

Anchor quotes to the country and the VAT rate. A 'cheap' Western European identity may be a normal Central European one — and a net price can jump up to 27% once VAT is added.

4. What You Actually Need

Just starting? A clean logo plus basic colours and fonts.
Serious about growth? A full identity with a brand guide.
Always: editable vector source files you own.
Check: the VAT rate and whether it's included.
Compare: Western vs Central/Eastern studios for the same brief.
FAQs
Where in Europe is branding cheapest?
Central and Eastern Europe generally offer the best value for the quality — strong design talent at lower rates than Western Europe.
How does VAT affect a branding quote?
VAT ranges from about 17% to 27% by country, so the same net fee becomes a different gross total depending on where the agency is based. Always check the rate and whether it's included.
What files should I receive?
Editable vector source files (AI/SVG), transparent PNGs, and your colour and font specifications. Owning these is essential wherever you commission the work.
