Dubai is full of web design companies, and their quotes for "the same" site can differ by 10x. The cheapest is rarely the cheapest once you count rebuilds, lost sales and lock-in. Here's how to choose a partner you won't regret.
- Judge the portfolio and outcomes, not the sales pitch.
- Confirm you own everything — code, domain, hosting, content.
- Beware lock-in, vague scopes and "free" offers with hidden fees.
- Compare scope, not just the bottom-line number.
1. Look Past the Price Tag
Price is easy to compare, which is exactly why people over-weight it. The real questions are: will this site load fast, work on phones, be findable on Google, convert visitors, and be editable by your team? A cheap site that does none of those is the most expensive thing you can buy.
2. The Portfolio Test
Don't just admire the visuals — open their past work on your phone and time how fast it loads. A beautiful site that takes six seconds to appear is a failure. Ask which results they drove: more leads, more sales, better rankings. "It looks nice" is not a result.
3. Red Flags to Walk Away From
Usually a locked template on hosting you don't control, monetised by fees later. You rarely own it.
If you can't take your code, domain and content elsewhere, you're renting your business from them.
"We'll build you a website" with no page list or deliverables invites disputes and scope creep.
If they never mention Core Web Vitals, mobile or SEO, the site will look fine and perform poorly.
Always ask: "If I leave, what do I take with me?" The right answer is: everything — your domain, your files, your content, your hosting access. Anything less is a leash.
